Apple Blackberry Crumble

Happy Saturday everyone! Finally, it’s the weekend! I remade an apple and blackberry crumble I made for a dinner party on New Year’s eve. I know it’s still the beginning of the new year and a lot people are detoxing, but not me. Nope, not me. I ate the whole thing and now I want to share this foolproof recipe with you.

The best thing is that you can freeze in the leftover crumble for your next crumble fest.

Apple and Blackberry Crumble

Oven dish 23 x 15 cm

Crumble
300gr flour
125gr dark brown sugar
160gr butter
½ tsp cinnamon

Filling
3 medium green apples
10 blackberries
10gr butter
1 ¼ tsp dark brown sugar
½ tsp cinnamon
1 clove

Preheat oven to 180ºC.
Peel the apples and remove the core.
Cut the apples into cubes, make sure they are not cut too small or they will melt away.
Mix the flour and sugar. Rub in the cold cubed butter, a few cubes at a time, with your hands. Until it resembles breadcrumbs. Mix in some cinnamon.
Heat up a pan, pour in the butter, apples and clove. Add in the dark brown sugar and cinnamon. Once it starts to caramelise turn off the heat.
Grease in an oven dish. Pour in the apples, place the blackberries on top and sprinkle the crumble on top.
Bake for 45 mins or until the fruit starts to bubble and the crumble looks golden.
Serve with (vanilla) custard or ice cream.
